Greg Grunberg Creates an App of His Own

0

One day Greg Grunberg along with his wife and three children went to an Arby’s. Once inside the Heroes star realized he had forgotten a coupon in the car. Greg was too lazy to retrieve the coupon. This incident got Greg thinking about why there was no app for free coupons on his iPhone. Greg decided to create an app of his own that would enable iPhone and iPod Touch users to access and use coupons right from their phone.

Along with two partners Rick Yaeger and August Trometer, Greg developed Yowza. Yowza is an app based on GPS technology that enables the delivery of coded digital coupons to mobile devices.

Yowza is a free download, the app costs absolutely nothing. This award-winning application is location specific. For instance, if you are in a Banana Republic Factory Store in downtown Seattle and you request a coupon your phones GPS locator will find current coupons matching your request for the Seattle store. The real beauty of Yowza is that it is not a coupon aggregator but instead, coupons are submitted by retailers. It is this retailer support that makes Yowza cost free.

Another fine feature of Yowza is that the coupons it delivers are digital. Cashiers scan the coupon image on your phone display to apply the discount; no printer is necessary for Yowza coupons.

Retailers such as GAP, Sears, Pier 1 Imports, Crate and Barrel, Banana Republic Factory Stores, Toys R Us, The Container Store and many more are on board submitting Yowza with super coupon offers. Yowza is available on iPhone, iPod Touch, Blackberry, Palm Pre and Android devices. Way to go Greg!

Yowza!! Helps You to Grab a Coupon on Your Phone

0

September 2010 Yowza news alert: Lane Bryant is the 300th retailer to join in and take advantage of Yowza!!.

Yowza!! was introduced to the shopping world in June 2009; since then its popularity has soared with over 5 million users. It is a GPS navigation, location based application for iPhone, iPod Touch, Blackberry, Android and Palm Pre devices. Yowza!! is the brainchild of none other than TV and film actor Greg Grunberg (Heroes, Love Bites, Alias, Felicity) and entrepreneur co-founder August Trometer.

By now you may be wondering what is so special about Yowza!!; what makes Yowza!! so popular? Yowza!! is based on an extremely innovative yet simple idea: make location specific coupons available via personal mobile devices. It is a free app available to everyone. As of September 24, 2010 there are 300 merchants offering coupons to restaurants and retail stores in 15,000+ locations to over 5 million consumers. This app is a win/win for everyone. Yowza!! drives business to the participating merchants and consumers receive deep discounts.

With Yowza!! there is no need for a printed coupon; Yowza!! coupons are paperless. Example: a consumer is shopping in a mall in Spokane, WA and wants to find any coupon deals available at Pier 1. All they need to do is use the app to search for deals by zip code and choose the best coupon; the cashier scans the coupon direct from the mobile device screen.

Gone are the days of clipping coupons; gone is the inconvenience of paper coupons that lie on the countertop while you are at the store. Greg Grunberg’s ingenious Yowza!! App costs nothing, is eco-friendly, location sensitive and always up to date.

The Band From TV

0

Greg Grunberg had the idea for Band from TV after a performance at a House of Blues with several other celebrities garnered a surprising amount of fan interest. Grunberg made several connections that he would later bring together for Band from TV: he appeared on an episode of House (“Sex Kills”) starring actor and musician Hugh Laurie as well as performing at a separate charity event with James Denton and Bob Guiney.

Band from TV made their debut at the 58th Primetime Emmy Awards TV Guide afterparty and as of 2007 plays high-paying charity concerts as well as performing for studio albums; Band from TV contributed a song (“You Can’t Always Get What You Want”) to the House M.D. Original Television Soundtrack, as well as releasing their own album: Hoggin’ All the Covers (recorded in July 2007).

Band from TV appeared on the 2008 “Idol Gives Back” with Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats”, and made their first official TV appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on January 16, 2009, performing Billy Preston’s “Will It Go Round in Circles”.

A Musical Tour of The 1980’s

I got on an 80’s kick today, and the songs that came to mind seemed to have a common thread. Let’s see if you can figure it out, and if you can’t just based on the title of this post well bless your heart.

This first song I listened to was “Land Down Under” by Men at Work. This song just cracks me up. I was watching the documentary “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead.” This is the first song on the documentary. Which that might explain why I got on the 80’s kick to begin with. Anyway, the video to this song is even stranger. Still you have to give props to anyone who can use the word Vegemite in a song. I want to know why the men in Australia plunder? I mean I get why the women glow. There are lots of nice beaches down there. It makes sense. But are all the men pirates? What’s that about?

Moving on to the next song chronologically and listening wise, and yes I did look up the dates to these songs ( they go in order respectively 81, 82, and 83). “Africa” by Toto. Everyone loves this song. Even people who say they don’t really do. You even know at least the words to the chorus. And admit it, you want to go see the rain in Africa too, don’t you. Ah good song.

Last but not least, “The Heat of the Moment” by Asia. If a keytar doesn’t crack you up nothing will. There are some things from the past that just need to stay there. The song is great, but the keytar is just shameful to our music history. Whoever came up with that really had too much time on their hands.

Oh good times, the 80’s.

Coping with a TV Addiction

0

For many of us, a surprisingly large portion of our day is spent parked in front of the television. Most of us don’t even realize just how many hours we spend watching television. The good news is thanks to things like Ti-Vo and DVR’s most of us have gotten into the habit of recording our favorite programs so that we can watch them when it’s convenient for us. Not only does this mean we no longer make sure we’ve included plenty of television time into our schedules, but we can no skip all the commercials, greatly reducing the amount of time we spend watching TV.

What you should know about TV is that it can be addictive. When you sit down to watch TV your body and mine relax, many of us go into a mini-trance. This feeling of utter relaxation tends to be something we can’t stop thinking about while going through other portions of the day. Not only does a TV addiction disrupt your ability to get anything accomplished, but also most addiction experts have noticed that individuals with a TV addiction purposely seek out programs that won’t stimulate their brains. The lack of stimulation

Luckily, you‘re going to find that dealing with a TV addiction won’t be nearly as bad as you might have originally thought. All you have do is follow some simple guidelines.

• Regulate the number of hours you spend in front of the television

• Set up at least one 24 hour period every single day where you don’t turn your television on. Distract yourself by doing lawn work, or hanging out with friends

• During commercial breaks do something else, like reading a book or playing with the dog this well help prevent you from getting too relaxed.

• Look for television programs that will stimulate your brain, forcing you to think

3 Musical Instruments that Kids Should Explore

0

Music can be inspiring and uplifting for many people. Kids love to see instruments and watch people play them. Many kids will ask to learn to play an instrument but not really know which one they would enjoy. There are some instruments that can be an easy way to get a kid interested in music and playing. There are 3 musical instruments that every kid should explore and look into.

#1: Piano. Many music instructors will tell you that once you learn to play the piano, any instrument can be picked up easily and pretty fast. Kids who learn to play the piano first seem to be able to play may other instruments and learn at a very fast pace.

#2: Guitar. The guitar is another instrument that can help kids learn notes easily and at a fast pace. Many kids love the idea of learning the guitar but may need to understand that it will cause some pain. When you play guitar, the hand that changes the strings can form calluses and hurt until the fingers get used to playing. The more they play and practice , the better it gets and then eventually there is no pain at all.

#3: Drums. Kids love to bang on drums and sit behind a drum set and feel inspired. There is so much loudness that comes with drums so many kids love them. Drums can be good for kids because some drummers talk about the release they feel when they play. Drums can be easily learned with or without an instructor.

Musical instruments can make a kid see life a little differently. Many kids are very talented and music can bring them to a whole other way of learning and growing.

Save Your Voice

0

Are you a smoker and suffer from laryngitis or other speech problems some of the time? Have you seen people without a voice box talking with a computerized voice? Chances are if you said yes to either question you or someone you have seen was a victim of cigarette smoke and the damage that it can do to ones voice box.

Tobacco is the worlds worst for someone’s voice. The tobacco smoke can irritate the vocal cords causing problems in speech and in some cases can ruin the vocal cords so bad that you are unable to speak or sing ever again. Cigarettes can also cause cancer in the throat or in the vocal cords that could lead to severe damage or even death if not caught very quickly. There are ways however that you can save your voice box and not have to worry about ever losing your voice.

The most common thing to do is to stop smoking but this is not a very easy task for most people. People get addicted to cigarettes and it is a very hard habit to break and not many people have the time or energy to put into quitting. There is a way that you can still enjoy smoking and still get nicotine into your system without harming your voice and getting the harmful chemicals into your body. That option is called the Electronic Cigarette.

The electronic cigarette is a smoking product that is made of plastic, battery operated, and instead of tobacco, it contains cartomizers full of nicotine and water that turn into a water vapor when smoked. These cigarettes are a great way to avoid a damaged voice while still getting the nicotine that you need. If you are interested in these ecigs you can read about them on E Cigarette Affiliate Programs or you can even read E Cigarette review which will give you an idea on how they work and which brand is the best out there.

By going with ecigs you can also help save money. Ecigs cost significantly less than regular cigarettes and are reusable so you do not have to worry about spending a ton of money on electronic cigarettes. Another helpful thing is that many electronic cigarette companies give out coupons. Pure Cigs is an ecig company that gives out Pure Cigs Coupon, and V2 is also a place that gives out V2 Cigs Coupons. Getting coupons can help save you further money and help you be able to let that money go elsewhere. You can also save further money with ecigs by making your own e liquid to go in the ecigs. You can purchase the nicotine online from many of the ecig dealers and then just mix the cigarette yourself saving you a good bit of money as well.

Switching to electronic cigarettes can save your voice and help you to have a better healthier life.

There comes a point in every homeowner’s life when they decide that they deserve a little bit of luxury. One of the things that some people turn to when they are looking for ways reward themselves for a life well lived is a new bathtub. Not only will having good quality, attractive bathtubs in your home provide you with a wonderful place to unwind, they will also help increase the value of your home should you ever decide to sell it.

While there are lots of regular wholesale bathtubs that you can arrange to have installed in your home, you should also look at some of your other options. A nice bathroom is wonderful, but wouldn’t air tubs or whirlpool bath tubs be even better?

Whirlpool tubs and air tubs are very similar. The difference is that a whirlpool circulates forced water, where as an air tub circulate air into the water. Both will provide you with a pleasant place to relax and will also massage tension from your muscles. When you are shopping for tubs, you will be able to find a tub that will fit in your bathroom. Both styles of tubs also have outdoor models which are fantastic if you are someone who likes to socialize you can get a tub that is large enough for you to have your friends over for a pool party. The other advantage of outdoor tubs is that during the summer months you can turn off the heat and use them as a small swimming pool.

n the past when people were looking for a way that they could relax in their own home, many of them turned to hot tubs. Today some people are overlooking Jacuzzis and air tubs in favor of in home saunas. Like hot tubs, a sauna provides you with many of the same perks that you would get from a hot tub. Today there are saunas available that can be set up in one of your spare closets, or you can arrange to have an outdoor sauna built in your back yard. Both types of saunas will provide you with a quiet place to relax and recharge after a long day.

One of the things that you do have to be aware of when you are luxuriating in your new sauna is the time. Staying in your sauna for too long can result in dehydration. The maximum recommended time you should stay in your sauna is fifteen minutes. For the best results, you should step out of your sauna and directly into a really cold shower which will give your skin a nice rosy glow.

It doesn’t matter if you prefer Jacuzzis or saunas, having either one in your home will improve your life in more ways than you can even begin to imagine. Just knowing that you have a place where you can go to relax will help your mental health. Regular use of both hot tubs and saunas has been shown to improve physical health as well.

Can You Guess What Greg’s Doing Now?

He is a music icon that has inspired thousands and won the hearts of thousands more.  We have watched as he entertained us for hours and gave us classic music that will always be a part of our lives.  Still, you might be surprised to hear about the latest thing that Greg Grunberg has started doing in his spare time.  Now he is participating in an online bingo league.

Greg started playing bingo after a friend in the band recommended it.  Many people have never even heard of internet bingo, but it is a growing sensation around the world.  It all started when free bingo started making its debut online in the United Kingdom and then the fun quickly spread throughout Europe and then around the world.  People love the challenge of playing a childhood game with a grown up twist.  When you play internet bingo, you can place bets on your cards and potentially win millions of dollars in cash or prizes like cruises, vacations, and electronics.

Many people are starting to play online bingo as a source of extra income since it is fairly easy to win smaller jackpots on a regular basis.  If you play often enough, you will learn some of the strategies that help you win such as playing more cards at the same time and enabling the automatic marking system.  Greg has been studying all of these tips and he is learning the way to win big at online bingo.  Rumor has it that he already won one big jackpot and donated the entire sum to charity.

If you have never played online bingo, you can get in on the fun too.  You might even run into Greg in the bingo chat rooms while you are playing.  Wouldn’t that be amazing?  Who wouldn’t want to sit back and chat with Greg Grunberg while playing a game of online bingo for a million dollar jackpot?  Here are some of the links that Greg recommended for new players:

You Too Can Make Sweet Music!

0

If you are like most people, you want to be the best you can be at everything that you do.  We all have this inherent need to be successful and essentially to win at life.  Even in our social life, we apply this concept and try to be the best.

The need to win, the drive that we all have gets carried into our free time as well.  We want to win at our activities, our games and in our battles at home.  One great way to win is at online bingo though.  If you play bingo games online, you already know this is the way to go.

There are a lot of helpful little tips and tricks that the bingo pros share about how to be successful in winning online bingo.  For a game of chance it is impossible to guarantee a win, but you can help increase your odds.

First of all, if you are playing at new bingo sites, you need to investigate their bingo bonus program to ensure that the site offers to match or even double your initial deposit.  In fact, the bet365 bingo bonus will allow you to play at least twice as much bingo at no extra cost to you.  The more you play, the more chance you have to win.

Next you will want to find the least crowded rooms to play when you start playing at the Virgin Bingo site.  The less competition you have the more chance you have to win.  It is common logic. By playing in smaller rooms, on off times, you will be increasing your odds with little difficulty to yourself.

Another consideration is to play multiple cards.  If you can handle more than one card at a time, it is helpful to play multiples since it gives you all those extra chances to win.  As long as you don’t miss a jackpot because you can’t keep up, you will definitely increase your odds of winning by playing multiple cards.

As was stated earlier, there is no tried and true way to win at online bingo, but by doing simple little tricks and using a posh bingo bonus whenever available, you really can increase your odds of winning and you can actually help your chances to win in a big way.

First, think about your color scheme.  Choose colors that are visually stimulating, but not so bright that they are stressful.  You should steer away from colors that give you a headache over time.  Take a cue from Microsoft and choose soft blue backgrounds with white space for your text.  This is where you may want some help from Wisconsin web designers because they can give you some ideas of other color schemes that will work for your particular business.

Second, choose font that is easy to read.  You want your visitors to stick around long enough to read your information.  Make sure it is easily visible and large enough to read without straining the eyes.  Choose a classic font like Times New Roman or Century Gothic.  When you are choosing a font for your website design Madison specialists can help you along the way.

Third, choose pictures and videos that will complement your products and services.  Part of effective website design is choosing add on elements such as photos or video introductions.  Take time to create a video showcasing your work or upload pictures to create a slideshow.  Your customers will benefit from seeing up close what you and your products are all about.

Finally, don’t forget to add a shopping cart and virtual checkout option to your site.  If you are only working on an informative site, you are going to miss out on potential sells.  Instead, provide plenty of information along with a direct opportunity for customers to buy your products while it is fresh on their minds.  Part of great Wisconsin website design is closing the sale and increasing your profits.

When you are searching for a great new website design and your business is in the Chicago area, you’ll realize that their are many talented Chicago web designers too.  Do some interviews and take the time to look through each designer’s portfolio.  You will never regret investing time and money in a professional web site.

The Collaboration between Greg Grunberg and J.J. Abrams

0

The names of Greg Grunberg and J.J. Abrams often appear on the same film or TV credits. The main reason they are seen so frequently together is that they have been best friends since they were very young children. Greg actually appears in home movies made by J.J. when they were kids; Greg attributes his acting bug bite as being a result of those home movie productions. They frequently work together; J.J. Abrams is a creator/producer and he often casts his friend Greg Grunberg to act in his productions.

Greg Grunberg played the character Sean Blumberg on Felicity from 1998-2002; from 2001-2006 he played the role of Eric Weiss on Alias. Both Felicity and Alias were created and produced by Grunberg’s childhood friend Abrams.

J.J. created a role with Greg in mind for a planned series named The Catch; a pilot was shot but the series never came to fruition. Grunberg enjoyed a brief stint in the pilot episode in the 2004 series Lost; he also appeared in the finale of the first season. J.J. Abrams directed Mission Impossible III in which Grunberg played a minor part. Abrams offered Grunberg a part in Star

Trek (2009) but Greg was busy on another project and could not take the part. Instead he played a voice only part in the project by becoming the voice of James T. Kirk’s stepdad in the first sequence.

The collaboration between J.J. Abrams and Greg Grunberg started a long time ago when two boys and a camera made home movies. These two loyal friends have supported each other in their respective searches for success and each has found it in their own niche.

Greg Grunberg’s Movie Group Sex

0

The hilarious comedy Group Sex was released on Blu-Ray and DVD August 24, 2010.  Greg Grunberg co-wrote and produced this comical movie with Lawrence Trilling, the movie’s director.  The cast is truly star-studded; it includes Tom Arnold, Henry Winkler, James Denton, Lisa Lampanelli, Odette Yustman among others.

In an effort to portray Sexaholic Anonymous meetings as authentically as possible, Greg attended actual meetings. He did his research some time ago before he became a highly recognizable celebrity. His anonymity provided him plenty of material with which to write a script about a group of recovering sexaholics. He did not participate beyond giving his first name; instead choosing to observe what the members were going through and talking about.

The story line of the movie is that of a single guy who is pretending to be a sexaholic in a misguided attempt at attracting the girl of his dreams; he follows her to sex addict group meetings and tries to fit into the group as his real life begins to unravel, laughter ensues.

Group Sex deals with a very serious subject with comedy. Grunberg’s attendance at Sexaholic Anonymous meetings ensured that the script would be written realistically. It would have been simple to misrepresent Sexaholic Anonymous meetings for comedic effect but it could have been very injurious to those who attend the meetings in hopes of eliminating the addiction.

Hat’s off to Greg Grunberg and Lawrence Tilling for making this hilarious movie dealing with a very sensitive subject from an authentic point of view.
